<p>Hello, i am pretty new to this topic, so please forgive my ignorance ...
I need to encrypt some data, and i need to encrypt it realy "good". What kind of encryption would you recommend?
I want to use the users password to encrypt the data (min 8 chars), but i don't want to store the password on my system. So every time i need the decrypted data, the user will enter the password.</p>
<p>Till now i came up with a Key derivation functions like PBKDF2. Recommendable?</p>
<p>Also another question. Does there exist any kind of encryption, that uses some algorithm that's "time based"? Say like, it always takes 2 seconds to decrypt the data, reguardless of the machine speed? Did not find anything related to this topic on the internet...</p>
