While thinking about how one might use request handler hooking to implement load shedding, I asked myself, "but how can I be sure that every handler has the load shedding hook as the first hook in the chain?"

My first thought was to implement my own http.ServeMux to ensure every call to Handle would give me a chance to put the load shedder on there. I found to my surprise that it is a concrete type instead of an interface, and thus can't be overridden.

Ideas?
