**评论:**

onlyreticent:

IIRC, iOS used to allow this back in 2009-2010 until Apple had a brain aneurysm and stopped allowing it, per "security" concerns.

-Badger2-:

It's because all the apps used to be filled with "Rate us 5 stars and get 100 MeowMeowBeanz points!" spam, skewing the ratings.

YOUR_MORAL_BAROMETER:

Hahaha MeowMeowBeanz!

Gokubi:

But 100 MeowMeowBeanz points is a lot of MeowMeowBeanz points. You can never have enough MeowMeowBeanz points. I like saying MeowMeowBeanz points.

kjax2288:

So now, we still get spammed with it.. we just don't get shit for it. Not even MeowMeowBeanz..

-Badger2-:

Think about how bad it is now, then realize it used to be 10x worse.

LonePaladin:

"used to be"

Sackyhack:

It's also a lot easier for apps to fake their own ratings

trexrocks:

"security" concerns seems to be code for "we felt like doing this, so fuck you"

NocturnalMorning2:

A lot of the time it really is for security. People are getting clever with hacking. For instance this

Bossdelgado:

I'm not clicking that, I know your games hackerman.

NocturnalMorning2:

I couldn't hack my way out of a wet paper bag with a machete.

Bossdelgado:

That's what they all say, then BAM! You get hit with a big sizzlin hack job

SubjektAlpha_:

And your paper bag is all fucked up.

TheDamnCube:

So is your machete.

depressed_po:

And now you only have one hand.

KiwisFTW:

Or ya know, it's valid?

Sackyhack:

Don't make me think about other possibilities. It took me 6 seconds to come to that conclusion so don't make me spend another 6 considering an alternate opinion.

Noerdy:

They made it possible again.

Doodenmier:

I could see a dev sneaking in some code that auto five starred if you declined to rate it yourself. Seems exploitable, especially for earlier app store days

OrdinaryPanda:

Or if they could wait more than 30 seconds into using it.

If they ask now, I give it a low rating right then.

trexrocks:

Exactly! Why would they ask you to rate it when you haven't even really had a chance to use it?

PsoulAoupS:

They probably figured out that there is a better chance for them to get 5 stars within x minutes than later.

fapsandnaps:

Waitresses told them it will increase their tips.

csonnich:

It's before you have a chance to figure out it's a shit app and delete it.

Polantaris:

Or when they won't leave you alone about rating.

"Rate me!"

Nah.

"Rate me!"

No.

"Rate me!"

Fine, 1 star. Aren't you glad you pestered me about it? Fuck you.

Give_no_fox:

Every fucking time.

existentialblu:

For serious.

slyth07:

Yup I immediately say I hate the app even if I use it all day. Reddit app does the same thing and always wants me to enable notifications for some weird reason.

Halfg33k:

On Android I don't even bother looking for in-app notification settings anymore. I block them in the os settings altogether. Maybe try enabling them in the app and then blocking them.

lilyhasasecret:

Why would anyone use the Reddit app? The mobile website is a piece of junk. I wouldn't want it downloaded onto my phone.

ZellahYT:

They would use the app exactly because the mobile website is a piece of shit and the app is decent... I use it because it's better than the mobile version.

I would browse the normal version but some subs css keeps fucking up and moves stuff when you scroll.

bearybrown:

i find the mobile website is better than the app. mostly because the mobile website remembers the comments that I've minimize instead of scrolling all the way to hell and back to find those few good ones.

Sackyhack:

You showed them!

colieolieravioli:

I just denied rating reddit bc it took me out of the app...

Ozzywalt14:

That was the inspiration for my post

Noerdy:

Apple just pushed an update maybe a month ago that made this possible.

Dalziel45:

Well, it would be pointless anyway if the ratings are not handled by a third-party. Who's stopping them from showing high ratings for themselves?

DasBeasto:

For high profile apps this would quickly and easily be discovered and it would cause exponentially more disgust than letting users rate it naturally. Unless the app is a scam or virus of some sort it would be more beneficial to let real users respond.

dan4334:

It could call a window from Google play to write and submit the review. Like how a window comes up when you sign into google play games in games that support it.

Fisheatsbear:

You could easily get around that by making another 'window' that covers the google one. Then use that info to rate your app 5 stars. Google would have to build a ton of security into that feature for it to not get cheated somehow.

And then at that point, it's not even worth it when you can just redirect them to google play.

dan4334:

No you can't, because the window is called from another app (I.e. google play games) and drawn over the top of the current app.

GooseNZ:

I would rate them higher if they didn't pester me to rate them.

What whaaaat reddit.

zzPirate:

Or if they didn't ask immediately on first launch of the app. And then again right in the middle of a game.

xQx1:

I would rate so many more apps if I wasn't forced to leave a written review.

Half the apps I use serve a single purpose. Five stars is enough. I don't also need to leave a 100 character review to tell potential users "it works."

bpitts2:

I think the risk here is a that if an App could allow you to rate it within itself, the rating could be manipulated. However, if Android or IOS provided a framework where the actual OS handled the prompt and submission it would be much less risk. The problem that I see with this solution is that the Play Store on the Android side isn't embedded at the OS level, it's still an app itself. Apple could probably get away with this idea though.

XesEri:

It already allows the Google Play Games login screens to come up in-app, so they CAN do it, they just refuse to.

vswr:

If you're logged into iCloud, iOS should allow it. You can prevent automatic submission by having an embedded view controller that verifies the credentials.

SacredWizardpower:

You can now on android.

hawk_ky:

It will be a standard in iOS 11. Apple has already pushed out requirements for future apps for when the software update comes out for the public this fall.

LockeWatts:

As a mobile developer, we know. Apple and Google have collectively decided to make our lives difficult for no appreciable benefit.

unionjak:

I just reviewed a book on my fire tablet offline, in the kindle app and it was submitted after It reconnected. Everything about this makes sense.

Ozzywalt14:

True. But I feel like it would be easy to have apple moderate it though, which it already does for in-app purchases

randuser:

Does Android still publicly associate your app ratings with your account? That's why I've never rated anything before.

KorvisKhan:

This is so serious

jgldmz:

Listen to this, Google!

HawkinsT:

For me the 'rate us' pop-up often annoys me enough not to rate them... although without it I probably wouldn't have bothered anyway.

el_smurfo:

I rate apps that I love or hate. If you nag me to rate you move more towards the second category

g0_west:

"are you enjoying this app?"

Only options are "yes" and "no", both of which take you to the store to leave a review. Holy shit fuck offfff

ScarlettJohansonn:

"used to be"

I would rate mobile apps a lot more if doing so didn't take me out of the application
